Automotive Manufacturing & Logistics

Is the automotive industry ready to adapt to change?

The automotive industry has to evolve and harness the latest AI technologies to bring efficient, innovative and safe vehicles to market, while continually working to cut manufacturing costs.

When it comes to manufacturing automotive components, quality monitoring and traceability are of the utmost importance. The whole process of assessing defects during the time the automobile is assembled, rolls off the line, and damage as it moves through the logistics chain at every touch point is labour intensive and therefore highly subjective and error prone. We eliminate human subjectivity from the Automotive Components/OEM defect and Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) damage inspection process using a Computer Vision stack.

Inspections with Computer Vision (CV) eliminates the need to have people in close quarters in a quality station thus ensuring that safety is taken care of. Using retrofit bespoke Rigs with high-end machine-vision cameras, controlled lighting and edge computing, our AI powered inspections ensures high throughput and delivers objective, precise and auditable results.

COMPONENTS

Our flexible AI powered inspection systems can be implemented right at the quality control station, providing intelligent and accurate real-time micro-level defect detection for virtually all automotive component manufacturing assembly operations. Our inspections provide unique digital signature analytics to visualize data and make it faster to respond to issues and easier to identify enhancements.

Our solutions deliver better quality, more efficiently by ensuring real-time pass/fail control to optimize the process. These processing, analytics, and control functions are remotely configurable, providing centralized management of the distributed operations. These capabilities can help component suppliers reduce costs and downtime in production lines while delivering better finished products.

OEM

Through Computer Vision (CV) and Deflectometry Technology, we detect irregularities on automotive frames including highly reflective surfaces. Our inspections are applicable during inline, underbody and end-of-line inspections. The real-time visualization process guarantees precise inspection reports at each stage.

Our AI powered inspections can not only find the defects but can also do root cause analysis so that the cause can be identified upstream and fixed which will help reduce costly returns once the product leaves the manufacturing facility.

FINISHED VEHICLE LOGISTICS

FVL companies take transportation responsibility of finished vehicles from automobile assembly plants to dealerships across the world. They also provide value-added services including fittings, accessorizing, repairs and detailing, and pre-delivery inspections. This movement across the world is done using water, rail, road and at times air, as a means for transport. A clear tracking mechanism to understand when a vehicle was damaged during the transit process to assign responsibility and liability is an imperative.

CamCom offers bespoke Rigs that feature controlled lighting and machine-vision cameras to capture the 360-degree exterior of the vehicle, including the roof and underbody. These Rigs can be deployed at all roll-on/roll-off (RORO) points like truck loading bays, rail yards, seaports, airports, and delivery lots. Our system helps to pinpoint damage and creates a clear track and trace visual audit trail of the vehicleʼs condition through the supply chain and caters to any size and width of vehicles.
