CamCom and ERGO Group roll out AI visual inspection in the Baltics

ERGO Group AG has selected CamCom as the main technology supplier for its AI-supported visual inspections in Europe. The rollout began in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, covering motor and homeowners’ insurance.

How the pre-inspection works

Customers applying for motor or homeowners’ insurance photograph their vehicle or home on a smartphone and submit the images through CamCom’s web app. The AI records the position, nature and severity of any damage, and checks whether each image is authentic.

Damage that exists before the policy starts is documented at the outset, so it can be taken into account and excluded if a claim is made later.

“Good technology is characterised by the fact that it is not only innovative but also practical, customer-friendly and scalable. CamCom’s solution is precisely that, which is why we are very pleased to collaborate with CamCom in the future, not only in India but also in Europe. Together, we offer ERGO customers another flexible, intuitive and digital service, and again make insuring a bit easier.”

From India to Europe

CamCom’s technology was already in use across the ERGO network before this partnership, including at HDFC ERGO, ERGO’s joint venture in India, and at ERGO Insurance Thailand. The Baltic rollout is the first in Europe, with a phased introduction planned across other European markets where ERGO operates.

CamCom is also one of the first members of ERGO ScaleHub, the scale-up programme ERGO runs in Düsseldorf with the city and the community space TechHub.K67.

“We look forward to working closely with ERGO in the future and thereby positioning ourselves as a strong partner for the latest visual inspection services. The strategic partnership not only underscores our commitment to continuous innovation but is also proof of our ability to offer accurate and efficient AI-supported solutions which at the same time meet the needs of the European market.”

The technology

CamCom’s AI World Model identifies and assesses defects and damage across almost every type of surface. It was trained on more than 450 million customer-validated images. For insurers, it is offered as Vernier by CamCom, one damage assessment layer from pre-inspection through claims and settlement.
